Dollar Tree Flower Wall DIY

My sister is having a baby and I am in charge of decorations. I've been wanting to find a reason or occasion to make a flower wall and I found one. Since I'm in charge of all the decorations, I had to ensure that I could make this flower wall on a budget. I searched Pinterest, YouTube, and the web tirelessly looking for a flower wall that I didn't have to spend over or close to $100 to create. Most of the videos I found utilized the dollar store for all of the supplies, but I would still have to buy tons of bundles of flowers, which would inflate the total cost for materials. Finally, I found a YouTube video that helped me achieve budget I desired. The YouTuber is One Hip Sistah and included the link below to her video. All of the supplies she used were purchased from the Dollar Tree. I bought everything but the colored flowers from Dollar Tree. Also, I made my wall 3 times the size of hers because I am using it as a photo backdrop and I wanted it to stand by itself.

Here are the materials I used:

6 - 20" X 30" Readi-Board White Foam Boards ($6.00)
11 - 150 ct. White Coffee Filters ($11.00)
4 - Crafter's Square Mini Hot Glue Sticks, 20 ct. packs ($4.00)
50 - Light Blue Foam Rose Head Artificial Flowers ($5.99)
50 - Cream Foam Rose Head Artificial Flowers ($5.99)
13 - 4 pcs Silver Foam Roses ($12.87)
2  - White Duct Tape ($2.00)
Glue Gun
Scissors

Total Cost - $47.85

Directions:

1. I taped the White Foam boards together like in the video and used white masking tape. Since my board is much bigger, I used pieces of scrap foam board that I had to support the back of the wall.

2. I put 3 coffee filters together and fold it in half and then another half. I would use the scissors to cut waves in the top of the filters.

3. Then, I would open the filters back up and use my finger to push the coffee filters into the hole in my other hand. I would than twist the bottom of the filters.

4. I would then use the hot glue to glue the "flower" onto the foam board.

6. I repeated making flowers and gluing them until the whole board was filled. I would work on it a little at time until it was finished.

7. If you want an all white wall you can leave that way, but I began placing all of the colored flowers in spaces between the coffee filter flowers throughout the wall.

8. Once I was ok with the design I hot glued them onto the wall.

I have included pictures of the all white wall and of the wall with colored flowers. Thank you for visiting my blog. Please leave a like or comment!!

    1. The wall was big enough that it could just lean up against the wall on its own. Another option for more support is to attach it to a backdrop stand. You can buy one on Amazon or make one using pvc pipes. Pinterest and YouTube have tutorials.
