Fall Pumpkin Decoration - For porch or home decor
Hello All!! It's been awhile, since I posted anything. However, I've been working on some projects, so I will try to post more frequently. Since Fall is amongst us, I have been working on some crafts to decorate my porch. Last year, we went and picked a real pumpkin, but carving it created quite the mess, so this year I decided to purchase a foam pumpkin and decorate it. This pumpkin I will get several years of use out of it and most importantly there is no big mess. If you have frequented any craft stores, there have been a lot of advertising and sales for the carvable foam pumpkins. They come in a few colors, which include: orange, white, black, blue, and possibly other colors. I decided to purchase my pumpkin from Walmart due to the lower price. The craft stores have their pumpkins starting at $5 for the really small pumpkins and increase based on size. Walmart is selling the 9 inch pumpkins for $6.97 and craft stores are selling that size for $10 and that's the sale price. If you read my previous blog, you will know that I recently purchased a Cricut, which I utilized to decorate my pumpkin.
Below are a listing of the materials used:

Ribbon (optional)
Rubbing Alcohol
Cotton Ball
The picture above is the pumpkin that I purchased form Walmart. I had to design the lettering I wanted to put on the pumpkin in Design Space. I decided to use a bold font for the R and for the Richards I used a script font. The font I used for the R is "Superclarendon" and I do not remember the font I used for Richards. It is welded, so I cannot see in Design Space either. However you can use the app "What the Font" to help with figuring it out. After I created the design, I used my Cricut to cut the vinyl.
Once the design was cut out, I removed the tag and I wiped down the area that I would be applying the vinyl with alcohol.
First I applied the "R" to the pumpkin using transfer tape. I started with applying the middle of the to the pumpkin and then smoothed each side. Since the pumpkin is rounded, this helps with applying the vinyl on the rounded surface. Once the "R" was applied I did the same method with "Richards". Below is the finish the product. This was a very simple project to complete. Please let me know your thoughts, comments, suggestions, and etc. I will be adding a bow, so I will update once that is added.
Here is an updated pic of the pumpkin with a bow added. I made the bow and I got the ribbon from AC Moore. They were having a sale on all Fall items.
